Your article as always lifts up my spirits during these Covid, Sabre rattling Putin, and democracy in decline times. Speaking of trash…now I see discarded Covid masks instead of cigarette butts.
Aw, thanks so much. I know, I was tempted to write something re. news, but it's all too much. So we just march on, just keeping an eye on what's right in front of us, even if it's a discarded mask. :)
I enjoyed reading this very much. I have been to New York, but many years ago. I have never been to Paris, so all of this was interesting to me. I live in a small town and my only big city living was in one of only 450,000 people.
Hey Vickie, thanks so much for writing! And for reading. I grew up in a town of 4300 people in the country. My high school class was 90 kids and that was with three local towns combined, so I know what you're talking about. I think my kids whom I've raised in the city will end up in small towns, funny how that happens. Tare care, s
Paris has a magic that just grabs you! And you capture that and express it with such feeling! In spite the "smell of urine under a bridge that spans the Seine or the omnipresent, lung infecting clouds of smoke or the appalling litter of Gaulois butts, there is always style, elegance and beauty in the City of Lights. However, I have to admit that whenever I am in Paris, I always wish that I had a lot more money! To add to the smells and dirt, everything seems to cost so much unless you know where to look. But the truth is that I can't help it, as Frank Sinatra says it: "I love Paris in springtime...in the fall-- when it drizzles...and it sizzles. I love Paris every moment...every moment of the year...!" Many thanks for reminding me. xoxoxo Wissie
Yes! Yes! Yes! All so true. Yeah, it's expensive, though you can get a baguette and a bottle of wine cheap still. Well, cheaper than NYC which I know isn't saying much. xoxox
Well, I have to admit... I looked at Hannah Almassi's WHOWHATWEAR photo piece on street fashions seen in Paris, and the prevailing look--the wide, flaring, long garments, really doesn't do anything for me. Nor, really does the minority approach, of short to zero skirt lengths and long bare legs, look especially appealing. Oh well... I've not been hanging out much lately on the streets of Paris, anyway...
Hi Pete, That's the fall look. They get pretty daring in the summer. :). Someday l hope we're all going to get to go SOMEWHERE again...like Paris or maybe Barcelona. I'd take anywhere really.
Yes, I guess that is a very fall look. Still not my "style"! ... In spite of covid, I ended up traveling much more these past two years than ever. All "discretionary" I guess one would say; not Europe (not surprisingly) but (maybe I should feel guilty?) numerous trips to MI, NM, AZ, by car & plane, NC too, multiple reasons, life is complex! I should write a book (or a story at least?). 😊
Je suis amusé! France being totally psychotic, there's no surprise here. I'm sharing this with my beloved ex-wife in Montpellier, who is a Paris enamorata.
